TU Delft Urban and Landscape Week

16092015

Every year, Polis, the student association of Urbanism and Landscape Architecture at the TU Delft, organizes a large international symposium with current topics regarding our fields. The organization is entirely set up by students, both Dutch and other nationalities. This year is the 5th edition and it is Polis’ ambition to engage in dialogue as much as possible about the future of our profession.

The 5th Urban and Landscape Week is all about defining borders, both spacially, morally and organizational and the theme is Draw the Line. Through inspiring lectures, interactive workshops and stimulating debates, Polis aims to challenge academics and professionals from home and abroad to search the border together.

The week will be held from 12 – 16 OCTOBER with a daily theme;

  • Monday Oct 12: Duality – Border between city and nature
  • Tuesday Oct 13: Discovery – Draw the line; drawing as a skill
  • Wednesday Oct 14: Disposition – Moral and ethical position of the designer
  • Thursday Oct 15: Dialogue – Trends in top-down and bottom-up processes
  • Friday Oct 16: Diorama – Exhibition day

On Wednesday evening the 25-year existence of Polis will ben celebrated, looking at both the history and the future of the student association. Also on this evening the yearly Alumni event will be hosted.

The week will be concluded on Thursday evening with a big finale: two rounds of three speakers who will take a statement from their field. Together with other speakers and the audience, all will look together where to “Draw the Line”.
