Symposium | Kinaesthesia, synesthesie and the perception of place

14042018

2 May the symposium ‘Kinaesthesia, synaesthesia and the perception of place’ will take place at TU Delft. During the symposium the book ‘Hidden Landscapes. The metropolitan garden as a multi-sensory expression of place’ of Saskia de Wit will be launched.

‘Kinaesthesia, synesthesie and the perception of place’ is a symposium on the notion of place, providing tools to sharpen our view for the particular, to identify the places of the metropolitan landscape in their structural, material, dynamic, practical, atmospheric, mnemonic and discursive identities.

What makes a place? How do we perceive our surroundings? What are the require- ments for the built environment to make us feel at home?

The symposium is organised on the occasion of the book launch of Saskia de Wit’s Hidden Landscapes. The metropolitan garden as a multi-sensory expression of place (Architectura & Natura Publishers).
