Strategies for the transition of Dutch dikes

27012016

Thursday January 28 six multidisciplinary design teams will present in Wageningen strategic scenarios for the future of Dutch dikes. It involves three locations: the Waal dike between Tiel and Lent, the Grebbedijk between Rhenen and Wageningen and Ijsseldijk between Zwolle and Deventer.

During the event, also a website will be launched which shows the context of the study and design ideas in an accessible and interactive way.

The design study of opportunities for spatial development along three major river embankments started on June 5 2015. This study is a joint initiative of the Water Boards Rivierenland, Rivierenland, Vallei en Veluwe and Groot Salland, the provinces of Gelderland and Overijssel, the Delta Design Platform of the Ministry of IenM and the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture and BNA Research.
