Former TU Delft students win Swiss design prize

08022017

The office LINEA landscape architecture of former TU-Delft students Lisa Troiano and Kobe Macco has won the biennial Swiss Evariste Mertens-Preis 2016 for young landscape architects.

The two young architects won the prize with their design of the park Grünfels in Rapperswil-Jona. In the design the former orchard meadow of Villa Grünfles transforms into a linear park that connects various urban areas: the historic centre Jona, the station area and the Zürich lake front. A strong framework, a linear tree grove and two big clearings form the central organising elements of the park, providing residents and visitors natural amenity and simultaneously ensuring spatial and functional cohesion. The city plans to develop and construct the park between 2017 and 2021.
