ZUS / The Luchtsingel

In this movie Kristian Koreman and Elma van Boxtel of ZUS talk about their Luchtsingel project. The Luchtsingel is a temporary footbridge that connects the main railway station and Hofbogen in Rotterdam. The bridge is called Luchtsingel (Dutch for ‘raised promenade’) because it can be seen as the completion of the canal promenade project by city architect Rose from 1854. The area around Hofplein used to be a vibrant place, but car traffic has taken over in recent decades. The Luchtsingel is being constructed through crowdfunding. With the Luchtsingel, ZUS wants to restore urban dynamics and quality through small-scale interventions in the urban fabric.
